How can I apply for an REI Visa card?
It's easy! Apply online or call 1-877-734-9737 to apply by phone. -
How can I check the status of my application?
Please call 1-800-947-1444 and choose option 1 for the status of an application. For your security, you will be required to enter your social security number to locate the application. Additional verification item(s) may be needed to validate. -
Is there an annual fee for the REI Visa card?
There is no annual fee (see Terms & Conditions). REI and U.S. Bank worked together to make the REI Visa card a great value for REI members. And remember, when you pay your bill in full by the payment due date each month you pay no interest either. -
Do I have to be a U.S. Bank customer to get the REI Visa card?
No, you just need to be an REI member. If you have a U.S. Bank checking or savings account, however, there are added advantages including overdraft protection for, and expanded account access to your U.S. Bank checking or savings account. -
Can I receive an REI Visa card without being an REI member?
You must be an REI member to apply. Rebates earned on purchases are included in the annual REI dividend notice, so you'll want to be a member to receive the rewards. A lifetime membership is only $20 and entitles you to other special benefits. -
Can I use my spouse's REI membership number to apply for an REI Visa card?
No, the primary REI Visa cardmember's name must match the REI member name and associated member number. However, additional REI Visa cards can be requested for family members. Call Cardmember Service: 1-877-734-8742 or fill out a mail-in form to make a request. -
What's the difference between the REI Visa Signature and REI Visa Platinum card?
The Signature card comes with additional Visa Signature benefits. -
How can I select the Signature or the Platinum card?
If you're eligible for the REI Visa Signature card, we'll automatically send you one. Otherwise, you'll be considered for the REI Visa Platinum card. -
What is the APR?

How long will it take to receive my card?
You’ll receive notification of the status of your application within 7–10 business days.

Can I use the REI Visa card only at REI?
No, your REI Visa card can be used anywhere Visa credit cards are accepted. You can use the REI Visa card for your monthly bills, online purchases, travel, restaurants, newspapers—you earn 1% back on all of these non-REI purchases. This 1% back on non-REI purchases1 is combined with 5% back on REI purchases2 and with your REI member refund3 to total your annual REI dividend. -
Can I use the REI Visa card to get cash from ATMs?
Yes, you can use your REI Visa card for cash advances at ATMs that accept Visa credit cards. Enjoy this convenience at thousands of ATM locations worldwide.

Can I get the 1% back on any type of transaction?
Almost every purchase or payment transaction earns you 1% back1—except purchases at REI. (At REI you earn 5% back2 and an REI member refund—typically 10% on eligible purchases3). -
Do I receive 1% back for my REI purchases?
No, the 1% back applies to non-REI purchases1 only. For REI purchases you will receive 5% back2, plus a member refund, typically 10% on eligible REI purchases3. -
When will I receive my 1% back?

What type of purchases get the 5% back?
You will earn 5% back on every purchase at REI when you use your REI Visa card. The rebate is earned on net REI purchases including full-price and discount-price items, REI gift cards, services, fees and REI Adventures-invoiced trip payments. -
When will I receive my 5% back?
You will receive your rebate in March. It is delivered as part of your annual REI dividend, which is a combination of your REI Visa card 1% back1, REI Visa card 5% back2 and REI member refund3.
Your REI Member Refund

How do the rewards affect my REI Member Refund?
The 5% and 1% are added to the REI member refund (typically 10% on eligible REI purchases).3 The result: You see an increase in your annual REI member dividend. -
How do purchase returns affect my rebate balance?
The 1% back1 and 5% back2 from all returns credited to your REI Visa card account will be deducted from your rebate balance. Returns made in January will not be recalculated on the prior year's purchases but may be reflected as a negative on the next year's rebate. The merchandise return date and your billing cycle will determine if REI receives information to recalculate totals before rebates are calculated.

Whom should I call with questions about my REI Visa card?

What should I do when my card number or expiration date change?
- Activate your new card as soon as you get it in the mail.
- Update your new information with all merchants that bill your card
automatically, i.e.:
• Utilities: gas, water, electric and garbage
• Online services: iTunes and PayPal
• Recurring expenses: cell phone, insurance and cable TV
• Subscriptions: magazine, newspapers - Make payments as usual to the statement showing your old credit card
number. The system will credit your account appropriately, and your next
statement will reflect the new number. - Destroy any remaining credit or check cards with the old card number or
expiration date. - Destroy all convenience checks with your old credit card number.

How do I specify my Overlimit Coverage Preferences?
REI Visa Signature Cardmembers:
Signature Cardmembers have no pre-set spending limit so Overlimit Coverage does not apply.REI Visa Platinum Cardmembers:
You can request that we cover overlimit transactions by opting in to authorize transactions that exceed your Credit Limit. If you opt in and we permit you to go over your Credit Limit, we will charge you an Overlimit Fee. You will only pay one fee per billing cycle, even if you go over your Credit Limit multiple times in the same cycle.
